What is a "Virtual Classroom"?
A Virtual Classroom is an online learning environment that allows for live interaction (audio and video) between a trainer and their students as they are participating in learning and assessment activities.
Face-To-Face (In-Person) or Virtual Classroom?
A number of important factors must be considered in determining which delivery format may be right for you. These include (but aren't limited to):
- Computer hardware, peripherals and environment
- Do you have a modern laptop or desktop computer?
- Can you ensure you are in a quiet room for the duration of your sessions?
- Do you have a headset or headphones with a microphone (such as those supplied with mobile phones) compatible with your computer?
- Do you have a webcam?
- Do you have a reliable and fast internet connection suitable for streaming video?
If the answer to any of the above questions is "no", we recommend attending one of our face-to-face sessions. Students who elect to undertake their training via Virtual Classroom must agree with all terms and conditions pertaining to this mode of delivery.
Computer Literacy
While in class (either in-person or via Virtual Classroom), you will research, prepare and submit your assessments through the Learning Management System (LMS), Moodle. You will spend time researching online, developing procedures and completing quizzes and long answer questions.
As such, we only recommend this program format for those with a strong level of computer literacy. For those less experienced with computers, we have other delivery modes that may be more suited to you. Contact us if this is the case to discuss our other delivery options.
Bring Your Own IT Equipment
Mandatory
- Students must provide their own laptop computer (with wireless internet capabilities)
Optional but highly recommended
- Wireless mouse and keyboard (improves ergonomics and speed)
- A second screen/monitor (improves ability to perform research)
Virtual Classroom students must also have a headset or headphones with a microphone (such as those supplied with mobile phones) compatible with their computer.
Mandatory Prerequisites
Participants must
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Complete the mandatory Pre-Course Survey
- Demonstrate that you have skills and vocational experience in the field in which you wish to teach e.g. to teach 'hairdressing' you will need a qualification in hairdressing (to at least the level you wish to teach), or be able to demonstrate via resume and professional references that you have relevant experience working as a hairdresser.
The above prerequisites must be completed and provided no later than two business days prior to the course date, in order for you to get access to your course assessment modules, and avoid you wasting your time during the course.
To be successful in this course you need to:
- Have a strong level of computer literacy skills. Your assignments will be conducted on a computer, and if you do not have a suitable level of computer experience, you will not be able to complete the course in the timeframe allotted.
- Be confident navigating with web browsers.
- Have the skills to compile electronic documents using software applications (word processing and PowerPoint presentations).
- Be able to conduct research and present information.
- Be confident in speaking in front of a group – or at least willing to give it a go.
- If English is a second language, you will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. Contact us to discuss.
- Agree with all terms and conditions of your enrolment

I really enjoyed the challenge this course presented, being a two-week condensed course. Les was very knowledgeable and covered all aspects, answering all questions and making the content interesting. The group was fantastic, very friendly and eager to help each other, which made the course even more enjoyable! I feel I have gained confidence from both the skills I have learnt and the way we presented our portfolio training tasks to the group, something I was not looking forward to at the start but found I really enjoyed. Overall, a very professional organisation and well presented training package, well done!
